For 50 incredible years, the home, which is part of the larger Leonard Cheshire Disability Homes<\/a> organisation, \u00a0has been a source of strength, comfort and a place to call home for countless residents with physical disabilities.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are so proud of where we have come from, and so excited to take on the next 50 with renewed energy and the spirit of taking this Home to a new level,\u201d shares the Cheshire Home Summerstrand manager, Deidre Burger.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n With a vision to alleviate societal barriers, the home<\/a> encourages residents to live fully and reach their highest potential, while providing the conditions necessary for the physical, mental and social well-being.<\/p>\n Each and every year, staff organise and host an annual fete with the aim of making R300,000.<\/p>\n \u201cThis year, we are going to stretch this \u2013 and aim for R500,000 to align our 50th<\/sup> birthday celebration to something bigger, and more special,\u201d says Deidre.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The fete has grown in popularity and is now a highly esteemed event on the PE\/GQ calendar.<\/p>\n With hopes to make this year\u2019s event bigger and better, Diedre and the team of dedicated staff and volunteers invites the public to be part of making it the most memorable yet.<\/p>\n \u201cWe invite you to participate, either through donations of cash, products, services or volunteering at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe also ask that you share the details with friends and family so that we can enjoy the company of a large crowd. We will have live entertainment, longer shopping hours and an auction at 11am, which is always a popular attraction on the day.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Space is also available to a host of independent stalls at the front of the Home.<\/p>\n \u201cYou are welcome to rent a space to advertise and sell your products, or merely come and support these wonderful businesses at our event,\u201d Deidre explains.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Donations for items such as assorted cakes, fresh produce, light foods, tea, coffee, as well as pre-loved household goods, towards hosting a successful event will also be highly appreciated.<\/p>\n The fete will be held at Cheshire Home Summerstrand on 7 June from 8am-1pm.
